Let’s Celebrate The Power of Female Friendships
Happy Member Appreciation Month
In the heart of winter, when the days are short and the chill in the air lingers, we have something special to warm our hearts: Jane DO Member Appreciation Month! And what a better way to celebrate ‘LOVE month’, than to show the members of our community just how much we love them. At Jane, this is a time to recognize and celebrate the incredible individuals who make up our vibrant community...YOU!
Our community is built on a foundation of shared passions, common goals, and making fitness fun! Together, we create a space where everyone feels a sense of belonging, support, growth, and friendship, and for women especially, that is a big deal! Don’t just take the word of your mother and grandmother, research supports the idea that female friendships are a cornerstone of women's health, longevity, happiness, and community as whole. These bonds provide deep and meaningful support systems, emotional fulfillment, joy, and a sense of belonging. And, when these relationships are celebrated within communities, like Jane DO, their power only gets greater, reinforcing the importance of connection, mutual support, and friendship.
The Power of Female Friendships
Female friendships are not just a nice-to-have, they are essential for our well-being. Studies have shown that women with strong female friendships are more likely to be happy, healthy, and successful.
Physical Benefits: Strong female friendships can help women live longer, healthier lives. A study published in the journal Psychosomatic Medicine found that women with close friends had a 22% lower risk of death from all causes, including cancer and heart disease.
Mental and Emotional Benefits: Female friendships can also help protect women from mental and emotional problems. A study published in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine found that women with strong social networks were less likely to experience depression, anxiety, and stress.
Community Benefits: Female friendships can also make communities stronger. A study published in the journal Social Science & Medicine found that women with strong social networks were more likely to be involved in their communities and to volunteer their time.
Now, more than ever, we understand the need for community and support. No matter who you are or what your personal views may be, we can probably all agree that these are some challenging times. However, these difficulties have also highlighted the strength that comes from being part of a strong and supportive community, like Jane DO. When women unite as a community, we pool our resources, knowledge, and empathy, which amplifies our ability to overcome obstacles and create positive change. The amazing thing about the power of positive change, is that it doesn’t just have to be for ourselves or in our own lives, it can be for each other, our communities, and even the world. At Jane DO, that means coming together in a place that supports one another, where we all feel safe to show up as we are to get stronger one STEP (class) at a time. Member Appreciation Month is a time to acknowledge our collective power and remember the idea of lifting each other up, as we continue to move forward.
Celebrating Female Friendships at Jane DO, This Month and Beyond
At Jane DO, we know that female friendships are essential for our members' well-being. That's why we're celebrating Member Appreciation Month with a special focus on female friendships. Throughout the month, we'll be hosting events, sharing stories, and giving away prizes that celebrate the power of female friendship. We hope that this month will help our members to connect with each other, build stronger friendships, and celebrate all the amazing things that women can DO when they come together.
While Member Appreciation Month is a special time to celebrate female friendships at Jane DO, it's important to cultivate and maintain these relationships all year long. Here are a few tips:
Make time for each other. This may seem like a no-brainer, but it's important to make an effort to see your friends regularly. Whether it's getting together for coffee, going for a walk, or simply chatting on the phone, make sure you're spending time with your friends on a regular basis.
Be there for each other through thick and thin. True friends are there for you through good times and bad. When your friend is going through a tough time, be there to offer support and a listening ear. And when you're the one who needs help, don't be afraid to reach out to your friends.
Be honest and open with each other. Honesty is the foundation of any strong relationship. Be honest with your friends about your feelings, your thoughts, and your experiences. And be open to hearing what your friends have to say, even if it's not what you want to hear.
Respect each other's boundaries. Everyone has different boundaries when it comes to friendship. Some people need more space than others. Some people are more comfortable sharing their feelings than others. Respect your friends' boundaries and don't push them to do anything they're not comfortable with.
Be supportive of each other's goals. When your friend is working towards a goal, be there to cheer them on. Offer encouragement and support, and help them to stay motivated. And when your friend achieves their goal, be the first to celebrate with them.
We want to show you, our members, that we see you, value you, and recognize your vital contributions to our community's success as a whole. We hope these tiny acts of gratitude help to remind you just how dang special you are to us, and to each other. So let's raise a glass to female friendship! Here's to strong women, supportive communities, and a brighter future for all.
